Film industry body announces a fund for first-time directors

A new production fund will back debut features, with a stated preference for projects shot outside the Kathmandu valley.

Applications open next month and will be assessed by a panel drawn from directors, cinematographers and one non-industry member.

First features are the hardest to finance anywhere, and Nepali cinema has historically concentrated both its funding and its settings in one city.
